1. First collect the supplies you'll need: paint, paint brushes, the material you want the poster to be on (I used cardboard but you could use canvas or wood in whatever size you want) and letter stickers. **Make sure the packet of stickers has enough of the letters you will need for your quote and is the size font you'll want, also it's easier if you use stickers that have the coating over the top--not the paper stickers. (I used a packet from Hobby Lobby that has like 1000 stickers so I knew I wouldn't run out of the letters I needed.
2. Next, find a quote you would like to have as a poster. It could be a quote from a book, movie, song lyrics, poems, whatever. (I chose Florence + The Machine lyrics and a quote from What A Girl Wants).
3. Next I painted random strokes of paint all over the cardboard.
4. Once the paint dried, I arranged and spaced the letters how I wanted and stuck the stickers to the painted
board.
5. Then I painted over all of the letters and board with one solid color. **You might want to dab around the individual letters first before painting the rest because paint can get under the edges of the letters that stick up.
7. Don't freak out if the paint leaked under the letters, you can do simple touch ups inside the letters. Also, I kind of liked the rough, imperfect type letters, rather than perfect straight lines, but that's just me.
8. Once it dries, you have your own Pinterest-worthy Poster.
I have also seen others make posters with pictures from magazines, or newspaper as their background instead of painting. I think using sheet music would look pretty cool too.You would just want to be careful about not letting paint leak under the letters because you won't be able to paint touch ups.
Happy Crafting!
